Title:Following a limited fire in the operating ward .... Al Sharkia Governor visits Al Qanayat Central Hospital

Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Al Sharkia Governor, paid an inspection visit to Al Qanayat Central Hospital to follow up on the progress of work and ensure the regularity of providing medical and therapeutic services to patients, following a limited fire resulting from an electrical short circuit in the recovery room in the operating department on the third floor of the hospital. It was controlled and contained without any injuries or deaths. The governor inspected the surgical operations department to examine the effects of the fire accident and reassured himself of the level of medical services provided to premature babies in the nursery department, intensive care, reception and emergency departments, laboratories, radiology, sterilization and pharmacy, directing the hospital administration to provide all aspects of medical and therapeutic care to patients and visitors to the hospital. The governor directed Dr. Hani Jamea, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, to review the work of occupational safety and health, as well as to check the technical condition of all fire extinguishers inside the hospital, stressing the safe use of electrical devices inside the hospital and to exercise caution when dealing with electricity, with disconnecting unused electrical devices from the electric current in order to preserve lives and property. For his part, Dr. Hani Jamea, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, explained that immediately after the electrical short circuit and the outbreak of a fire in the operating wing, some cases were evacuated from the affected areas as a precautionary measure, and two cases were transferred from the hospital's pediatric care unit to the care of Zagazig General Hospital, with the rest of the pediatric care cases being transferred to another care unit away from the rising smoke as a precautionary measure, in addition to ensure the safety and stability of all cases, and the operations department was closed until the necessary examinations and repairs were carried out. Dr. Jamea added that there are no problems with electricity, and all hospital departments are operating regularly, and a technical inspection was carried out on all cases in the hospital after the fire was controlled to ensure everyone's safety.
