Al-Sharqia Governor Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouni participated in the Governors’ Council meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly via videoconference, to review several key service and development priorities.
The meeting discussed the regularity of the 2026/2027 academic year, with governors directed to intensify field monitoring of schools, improve cleanliness around them, and ensure a safe and supportive environment for students.
The Prime Minister also directed intensified market inspections to ensure the availability of essential goods, control prices, prevent hoarding and monopolistic practices, and expand permanent, seasonal, and temporary markets. The meeting reviewed the price-reduction initiative launched on September 10, which currently offers 12 essential commodities at reduced prices, with plans to expand to 30 commodities.
The meeting also reviewed the “Greening All Governorates” project, aimed at expanding green spaces and tree planting, protecting existing trees, and using treated wastewater for irrigation.
Governor El-Ashmouni affirmed that Al-Sharkia is intensifying market-monitoring campaigns, preventing building violations and encroachments on agricultural land, and continuing efforts to improve cleanliness, roads, public utilities, and green spaces, while responding promptly to citizens’ complaints.
