Eng. Hazem El-Ashmouny, Governor of Sharkia, praised the efforts of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate during Eid al-Adha, including its supervision of the free slaughter of sacrificial animals for citizens at approved government slaughterhouses. The Directorate prohibited slaughtering on roads, in the streets, or outside of slaughterhouses to preserve the safety of sacrificial meat and prevent environmental pollution. Fines were imposed on violators, and inspections of butcher shops and meat shops, in conjunction with the Supply Investigations and Supply Control Department, were intensified to ensure the safety of the products on display and to preserve the health and safety of citizens.
For his part, Major General Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Metwally, Undersecretary of the Ministry and Director of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, indicated that during the second day of Eid al-Adha, Saturday, June 7, 2025, the Veterinary Medicine Directorate visited the slaughterhouses of Awlad Saqr, Kafr Saqr, Belbeis, Bardain, Husseiniya, and Al-Salihiya (Biofeed slaughterhouse). To monitor the progress of work inside the slaughterhouses and receive citizens' sacrificial animals free of charge, this was done in cooperation with the Director of the Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection Department and the doctors of the Guidance Department. This was amidst an atmosphere of joy, happiness, and pleasure. The sacrificial animals were inspected before slaughter and after slaughter. The meat was also inspected and hosted until the slaughter and preparation were completed. The slaughtering, preparation, and packaging of meat for civil society organizations such as Hayat Karima, Al-Orman, and Tahya Misr were supervised.
The Director of the Directorate confirmed the free slaughter of 968 sacrificial animals inside government slaughterhouses during the second day of Eid al-Adha. The central operations room at the Veterinary Medicine Directorate and its branches in the directorate's external departments at various centers within the governorate were activated to receive complaints and activate a cooperation protocol with the Environmental Affairs Agency to control cases of slaughter outside designated slaughterhouses, which results in meat and environmental pollution from sacrificial waste, thus preserving the health and safety of citizens. |
